Del Ray Artisans Showcases Local Artworks in Their Many Forms

The earliest version of the Del Ray Artisans was founded in 1992 by Peter Smirniotopoulos, an artist who wanted to find and reach out to his fellow creatives in Alexandria. The collective quickly gained steam as more local artists and craftspeople joined the charge to make art a part of daily life in Alexandria. Now more than 25 years later, the Del Ray Artisans continue to host events and exhibits that showcase local talents.

Come to the gallery to see what's on display at the moment. In September, an opening reception will kick off Eat, Drink and Be Merry, a three-week exhibit of ceramics, paintings, and other works that all take their inspiration from the dining room table. In November, Connecting Threads will showcase a lineup of fiber artworks, including everything from knitting and crocheting to mixed media, many of them telling specific stories. Del Ray Artisans also hosts art shows at other spaces throughout the city via its Gallery Without Walls program.
