Winter Palace Studio in Georgetown offers a variety of realistic painting and drawing classes, workshops, and seminars all based on the approach used by traditional art schools. This approach includes thorough understanding of the structure and anatomy of the human figure, learning the ways of measuring proportions, seeing the unique characteristics of the form, and learning to see tonal values. The studio is owned by Natasha Mokina and Victor Pakhomkin who are both graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia. Students love their old-school, European teaching style with individualized attention and small classes – great for beginners and experienced artists as well.
At the Georgetown studio, choose from Academic Drawing (Model), Academic Painting (Model), and Still Life Painting courses. Each course includes 15 weekly sessions and cost ranges from $670 to $695 per course. Students will learn a variety of techniques, including the principles of creating three-dimensional illusions, color mixing, composition, and more.
