Find Turkish Street Food at Tempo: The Casual Eatery

Situated in Downtown D.C., Tempo – The Casual Eatery is a brand new fast-casual restaurant specializing in Turkish street food. The star of the menu is a boat-shaped Turkish pizza called pide that bakes in less than two minutes. The made-to-order pie requires no sauce, but there’s lots of veggie and meat options that go on top. Lamb, beef, and chicken options are also in the mix, as well as falafel, sandwiches, and a salad bar. Try the Turkish baked potato, Kumpir, a classic to-go order found in Istanbul that comes mashed with butter and cheese, alongside 15 toppings to choose from.

Tempo has a modern black and white color scheme with an order/pick-up counter and a display case of drinks and baklava. The dining area is spacious and clean with ample seating, and the staff is both friendly and helpful in explaining different menu options. Stop by Tempo on Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
