Mark your calendar for the Arlington Historical Society’s January lecture, History of the Potomac River. Author and historian Garrett Peck is this month’s speaker, and is just the person to review the Potomac’s historical significance to Arlington and Northern Virginia. He’s done extensive research on the topic for his book, “The Potomac River: A History and Guide”, and he has lots of interesting insights on how the river shaped our early country during the Civil War and how it continues to impact the region today.
The lecture takes place on Thursday, January 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Reinsch Library Auditorium at Marymount University. Mr. Peck will have copies of his book on hand to purchase and autograph during this free event. Visit the website for information on how to access the library and where to park on the Marymount Campus. No preregistration is required.
