North Italia boasts over two dozen locations across the United States, and one of its newest can be found just off Washington Circle in Foggy Bottom. Even though North Italia has only been open for a couple of months, the restaurant has hit the ground running, with a full slate of menus for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, as well as one of the best happy hours in town.
Regulars heap praise on the garlicky tomato sauce and the chef’s choice pasta, both of which are made fresh in house each day. Other highlights include the Nonna casserole at brunch, the tomato and creamy burrata appetizer, the house-made funghi pizzas and the slow-simmered bolognese and braised beef tenderloin dinner entrees. Make sure to leave some room for bombolini donuts — regulars say it’s an integral part of the experience.
